Road Tripping with Kids

The kids are out of school, gas prices are low and it’s the perfect time to take a road trip in your Volkswagen! Depending on how prepared you are, road trips with kids can either be a fun adventure or a complete disaster. For less stressful travels, follow these rules:

1. Plan your travel time around nap time

If you have young children, it’s best to plan your travel time around their nap time. This way the majority of the drive they’re fast asleep in the backseat of your Volkswagen as you trek across Arizona.

2. Snack responsibly

Everyone knows one of the easiest ways to keep children happy on road trips is with a steady supply of snacks. However, make sure these snacks aren’t loaded with sugar. Giving your kids a sugar-high will only make them more restless. If you want your Volkswagen to make it past the Arizona border, feed them snacks such as cheese, crackers and trail mix.

3. Pack cleaning supplies

No matter how old or how well behaved your children are, they’re bound to make messes in your Volkswagen. Keep cleaning supplies such as Lysol wipes and paper towels on hand. It’s also a good idea to take a roll of garbage sacks. This way you won’t have to make multiple stops at Arizona gas stations every time someone spills their juice box.

Though these rules won't help you avoid every disaster, they'll at least keep your Volkswagen from looking like a McDonalds playground.
