Volkswagen Donating Pink Beetle to Raise Money for Cancer Research

Back in 2011, former E! News Anchor, Giuliana Rancic battled breast cancer. Today she stands as a breast cancer survivor and has founded FAB-U-WISH.

FAB-U-WISH is a program that provides wishes to women who are undergoing treatment for breast cancer. The program has partnered with the Pink Agenda, a nonprofit that raises money for breast cancer research.

Volkswagen is helping the cause by donating the very first 2017 Volkswagen Pink Beetle to an auction that will raise money for breast cancer research. The winning bidder will be the very first Volkswagen Pink Beetle driver, meet Giuliana and be invited to attend the Pink Agenda's Annual gala.

According to Volkswagen Newsroom, when Giuliana was asked what she hopes can be accomplished with the Volkswagen Pink Beetle she responded, "Funds raised through the #PinkBeetle auction will help us grant more wishes and fund research needed for our greatest wish – finding a breast cancer cure."

Summer Road Trip Tips | Larry H. Miller Volkswagen Avondale

The kids are almost out of school, and before we know it road trip season will be in full swing. Though summer vacations mean quality family time and great memories, many people dread the drive it takes together.

Unfortunately we don't have a way to shorten the drive, but we do have a few tips that will make the getaway in your Volkswagen more enjoyable!

1. Bring a REAL roadmap

If your Volkswagen has a navigation system, you shouldn't experience any issues. However, we've all had times where our navigation apps on our smart phones have taken us in circles. This is where having an actual map comes in handy.

2. Take breaks

It may be tempting to power through, but both you and the kids will be happier if you pull your Volkswagen over for breaks. Get out, stretch your legs, and take a moment to refresh. If not, the kids will get uncomfortable and the whining will begin.

3. Pack A LOT of activities

Even an ipad can only entertain kids for so long. Bring a variety of activities to keep them occupied in the back seat of your Volkswagen. Recommendations include coloring books, Where's Waldo books, I Spy books, Bingo, etc.

4. Pack healthy snacks

It's easy to stock up on sugary food when you're at the gas station, but avoid this if possible. Healthy snacks will keep both you and your kids full longer, and you'll avoid sugar overloads. Stock your Volkswagen with fruit, crackers, cheese, granola bars, and fruit leather.

2016 Volkswagen e-Golf Named Best Compact in the 2016 AAA Green Car Guide

In case you missed it, the 2016 Volkswagen e-Golf was named the Best Compact in the 2016 AAA Green Car Guide.

Joerg Sommer, Vice President of Product Marketing for Volkswagen of America said, “This award is a testament to the many strengths of the e-Golf—cutting-edge technology, versatility, efficiency and value along with the fun to drive element that is so characteristic of the Volkswagen brand.”

Winning this award is no easy feat either. To be named this, the Volkswagen e-Golf had to receive a high score in 13 categories including: fuel economy, emissions, braking, crashworthiness, handling, acceleration, ride quality, cargo-carrying capacity, interior noise, ease of entry and exit, roominess, maneuverability, and visibility.

It's no surprise that the 2016 Volkswagen e-golf passed though, with it being based on the award-winning Golf architecture. Features include more cargo space than any midsize sedan, a permanent-magnet altering current (AC) motor, a range of 83 miles and a combined estimated EPA of 116 MPGe.

In case you didn't hear, the Volkswagen Golf R was named as an Automobile Magazine "2016 All-Star!" This prestigious award is based on importance, style, class, and desirability. Needless to say, it's no surprise that the Golf R received it.

Volkswagen T-Cross Breeze Makes Debut at Geneva Motor Show | Larry H. Miller Volkswagen Avondale

The Geneva Motorshow is know worldwide for debuting the next big cars at each year’s show. Its 86th year is no different, as the Volkswagen T-Cross Breeze made its first appearance on the VW stand’s center stage. The T-Cross Breeze is the first convertible SUV in the Polo class.

“Our T-Cross Breeze is the first open-top SUV in its class and, at the same time, an affordable, cheeky cabriolet with a raised seating position that gives you a perfect view,” Herbert Deiss, Chairman of the Board of Management for Volkswagen Brand said. “At the moment the T-Cross Breeze is purely a concept, but we can well imagine putting such a convertible on the market as a production model. This is an affordable fun car that is also entirely suitable for everyday use—it’s a genuine ‘People’s Car’.”

The concept car is equipped with a 1.0-liter turbocharged and direct-injection gasoline engine, and showcases dynamic body proportions and crisp, short overhangs. But perhaps its main purpose was to give a little insight into the future of Volkswagen and the upcoming Volkswagen lineup.

“The T-Cross Breeze is a teaser for the most compact sport utility vehicle that Volkswagen plans to make – and the nucleus of a new SUV and convertible design in the compact sector,” Klaus Bischoff, Head of Volkswagen Brand design. “The T-Cross Breeze reflects the new start for our brand. We want to stir enthusiasm for ‘New Volkswagen’. In this instance we are doing that with an unprecedented vehicle concept in this class; a completely redesigned cockpit and design that is equally crisp and expressive.”

In addition to the T-Cross Breeze’s efficient engine, it also comes with a 7-speed cual-clutch automatic gearbox. The SUV convertible goes from 0-62 in 10.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 117 mph, all while sipping gas at an extremely efficient rate, getting around 45 miles per gallon.
